Paola De Luna’s Bridal Shower

The aroma of fresh pink roses filled the banquet hall of McAllen’s Country Club on Sep. 30, 2011, as guests joined Paola De Luna and her family in celebration of her soon to be marriage.

Pink silk napkins and black and white linens adorned the table tops as guests were seated to enjoy their meals.

The evening was filled with laughter, great food and good times as friends and family wished Paola the best of luck in her upcoming marriage.

As the evening came to a close, friends and family gave their best wishes to the bride-to-be. The night ended, marking only the beginning for Paola and her soon-to-be husband.

RGV Iron Chef

The RGV Iron Chef Food Fight competition features outstanding culinary talent in the Rio Grande Valley. The event took place Nov. 9, 2011 at Club Cimarron.

Many of the most prominent chefs in the RGV were invited to compete for the title of the RGV Iron Chef. A live-feed of the actual competition in the kitchen was shown in the club during the evening.

During the competition, each chef was provided a station where they featured samples of outstanding cuisine for 500 guests.

A People’s Choice Award was presented to the best chef.

IWB Of UTPA Honor Kika De La Garza

The International Women’s Board honored Eligio “Kika” and Lucille de la Garza with the Excellence in Leadership Award at the annual IWB Candlelight Reception.

The International Women’s Board of UTPA chose to honor a couple who perfectly exemplifies the spirit of the studies abroad program the group promotes.

The de la Garzas also believe in service to the community as they both have served in both private and public capacity in a number of roles in South Texas.

The event was held on Thursday, Nov. 10 at the home of Judge Ramon Garcia.
